The Cornish Pork Pantry is a multi-award winning family farm from Grampound Road near Truro specialising in gluten free fine pork products and charcuterie.
Run by Jeremy and Michelle Burnett since 1996, the Cornish Pork Pantry is already a regular stallholder at Pendeen and St Buryan Farmers’ Markets and on Thursday 22nd July will join St Ives Farmers’ Market every week.
“We are a small family run Cornish farm with the aim of bringing proper food back to the family table,” explained Jeremy, who won the Best Farmer Producer Award at the Royal Cornwall Show Food and Farming Awards for the second time this year.
“We started selling our pork to the public in 2006 – we knew we had to add value to the pigs to survive on a farm with a small acreage like ours. Cutting out the middle man and selling directly to the customer has made our business viable, and also gives us really valuable feedback from our customers.”
All the Cornish Pork Pantry’s products come from their own 300 Welsh and Saddleback pigs and are handmade without using additives or preservatives.
“Michelle and I want to bring our children up in the same part of Cornwall where we grew up. Working with the animals and making a successful business out of the farming industry is hard work but the growth in the local food sector and farmers’ markets is really helping us achieve this for our family.” Jeremy added.
The Cornish Pork Pantry is at Pendeen Farmers’ Market on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, St Buryan on the 2nd and 4th Saturday and from 22nd July every Thursday at St Ives Farmers’ Market. To contact the farm directly call 01726 883080.
