SENNEN FARMERS' MARKET
Every Tuesday
9 am – 12 noon
Sennen Community Centre, Mayon Green, Sennen, TR19 7AW
Facing the Atlantic and a mile from Land’s End, Sennen is the most westerly village in the country. Centuries ago, the Cove was at the centre of the pilchard fishing industry and also had a notorious reputation as a base for smugglers and wreckers. Today Sennen is known for its RNLI lifeboat station, for the glorious west-facing sweep of Whitesand Bay, for its rugged scenery and great surf.
Very much at the heart of the local community, Sennen Market opened in May 2009 to provide an outlet for the area’s wide range of local produce. The market has been voted Cornwall's Farmers' Market of the year for the last two years running. Hugely popular with tourists in high season, the market is also a focus for the local community with a bustling cafe a meeting place for residents of all ages. Sennen’s stallholders offer a wide variety of affordable local food, plants and herbs, cards, jewellery, cleaning products, and other Cornish crafts as well as regular workshops.
"There aren’t many places that you can get all this local food and craft under one roof. Who’d have thought enjoying coffee and cake could mean so much to small rural businesses as well as increase community cohesion!”
